Meet the Team

Dr Nick Munnings
BVSc, MRCVS

Nick came from the UK in 2006 and started working at Silverdale Vets at Animates then moved to the Hibiscus Coast Veterinary Hospital when it opened in March 2014. He was senior Partner of a 6 Vet Mixed Practice in Devon, England that he had set up in 1985. Nick enjoys all the challenges of small animal Veterinary work, keeping up to date with the latest techniques and treatments as well as using alternative treatments when indicated. In his spare time Nick is a keen Club photographer. From June 2021 he will be reducing his working hours to 2 and a half days per week.

Dr Claire Harsent
BVSc

After graduating from Massey University, Palmerston North in 2017 Claire joined the Veterinary Hospital Group and quickly settled into the team at the Hobsonville clinic. Having grown up on the Hibiscus Coast, Claire enjoys a coastal lifestyle and spending as much time outside with family and friends as possible. She is passionate about all areas of veterinary care with special interests in dermatology, senior wellness and medicine. In her spare time Claire enjoys yoga, hiking, netball and relaxing at home with her partner and two cats; Bubbles and Smudge.

Dr Paula Brocklehurst
BVSc

Paula graduated from Massey University in 1995 and after two years in a mixed practice in the King Country moved to Auckland. Working as a companion animal vet in South Auckland for many years this led to practice ownership. With a change of location to north Auckland she is now working regularly at Hibiscus Coast but may also been seen filling in gaps at the other branches. Outside of work she can be found riding her horses, playing ice hockey or out and about on a mountain bike.

Debra Sample
Dip VN

Debra started working with the Veterinary Hospital Group in 2008 after gaining her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing from Unitec. Debra moved from Vets at Animates Silverdale in March 2014 to become Hibiscus Coast Veterinary Hospital clinic manager. Debra enjoys cake decorating and photography.

Paige Cantelo
Dip VN

Paige joined Vet Hospital Group after completing her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2019. She loves seeing a wide variety of patients including birds. Paige lives on the Shore with her partner and her chonky kitten called Riley

Jacqui Williamson
Nurse Student

I moved to New Zealand from South Africa in 2013 and now live in Stanmore Bay with my husband, chunky ginger cat Rascal and huntaway x puppy Ruby. In my spare time I love being outdoors mountain biking, on the farm or at the beach spending time with friends. I love all animals including the scaly ones and have loved working for the Veterinary Hospital Group since October 2020.

Samantha Vrij
VN

Having spent most of my life on the North Shore and in Puhoi, I returned home from Australia this year after living 3 years in Southern NSW (the man from Snowy River country) with my partner and doggies. Deciding to follow my dreams I made a later in life career change from Aged care nursing to vet nursing. Having gained my vet nurse certificate in Australia I am now studying towards the veterinary nurse diploma through UNITEC. In my spare time I enjoy catching up with my friends, dabbling in a bit of arts and craft, watching a good movie horror movie on Netflix or volunteering for a local animal rescue. I look forward to meeting you at the Hibiscus Veterinary Hospital in Orewa.
