Grant McCullough is the Managing Director and Owner of the Veterinary Hospital Group. Originally from Whangarei, Grant has worked in Equine and Dairy Practice in Northland, specialist Centres in the UK and for the last 25 years in Small Animal Practice in Auckland. Grant purchased Albany Veterinary Hospital in 1991 and has overseen the steady growth of the group since that time. Grant lives in Coatesville with his wife, 2 sons, 2 daughters, a dog, 3 horses and lots of sheep. In his spare time he enjoys family time especially if that includes yachts or snowy mountains
Penny is our recent addition to the Vet Hospital Group in the capacity of lead surgeon (orthopaedics and soft tissue) and imager. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge having studied for her post graduate qualifications in both surgery and radiology in New Zealand and then trained in ultrasound while in the UK. She has been working in referral practice in England prior to her return to NZ. She is always happy to take on complex surgery and 'hard to solve' problems and loves her ultrasound. When not at work she runs marathons, skis and sails (this includes sailing round the world with her husband and children)
Daniel grew up in the Hawkes Bay and following his graduation from vet school he worked in a predominantly farm animal practice in the King Country, until a desire to see the world led him to the UK for 5 years, where he worked in a variety of veterinary practices. Daniel is now a local in Coatesville where he lives with his partner Sidah, son Marcus and daughter Maia.
Monica is an Auckland native and she even did her pre-veterinary semester at Massey Albany campus way back in 2010. She graduated from Massey University in 2014, and has been working as a small animal vet ever since. She is currently studying towards her Post graduate Certification in Small Animal Surgery, which she began in the UK in 2018. After 3.5 years in the UK Monica has returned to join the Albany team. Aside from her special interest in surgery, Monica is a keen enthusiast for animal dentistry and geriatric pet care. Outside of work Monica can be found rehabilitating her rescue dog from a spinal injury, exercising the horses, running and exploring New Zealand's outdoors
Danial grew up locally in Glenfield and graduated from Massey University at the end of 2019. Danial moved back up to Auckland at the end of 2020 and joined the team at Albany. He owns an 18 year old cockatiel named Bibby and a couple of backyard chickens. In his spare time Danial is a keen basketball player and also enjoys gardening, cooking and doing other DIY projects around the house
Genna graduated at the end of 2020 and is the newest vet on the Albany Team. Genna is working between Albany and Dairy Flat. She lives locally with her troublesome Cocker Spaniel Thompson
Karen has recently returned to the Albany vet hospital after a few years away. Karen has worked in the animal industry for over 12 years. Karen lives locally with her young daughter and 1 cat named Rubble.
Jo joined the Albany clinic in 2016 after completing her Certificate in Veterinary Nursing with Vet Nurse Plus. She enjoys reading and hanging out with Earl.
Amber has been with the veterinary hospital group for a few years now and has enjoyed working at multiple branches. Amber has now settled into a full time position as senior surgical nurse at the Albany clinic and is loving every minute of it! She lives in Whangaparaoa with her partner and very spoilt cat named Tequila.
Emma joined the Albany clinic at the end of 2019 after completing her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing with Vet Nurse Plus. She previously worked at the Parkhill clinic while completing her studies from 2018-2019. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, trying new things, and spending time with friends and family.
Anastasia Smith has moved from our Silverdale clinic to become the newest nurse on Penny's surgical team. Anastasia has been with the group since 2018. She has a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. Anastasia lives in Helensville with her two cats Waffle and Feral and bearded Dragon called Onyxia.
Jayde joined the Albany vet clinic at the end of 2019 after completing her Certificate in Animal technology with Unitec. She continues to further her education in Veterinary Nursing at Unitec. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her 2 Cocker Spaniels and watching movies with friends and family
