Meet the Team

Susan Farquhar
BVMS

Susan graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in Scotland in 1999 and worked in the UK for 10 years before emigrating to New Zealand with her partner in 2009. She worked in small animal practice and emergency clinics in Auckland and then for Veterinary Hospital Group in the Parkhill branch for 6 years before a short career break having her daughter. Susan rejoined the Veterinary Hospital Group as Northern Clinical Director in January 2023 and can be found in clinic across any of our northern branches.

Mikaela Deane
BVSc

Following graduation from Massey University in 2020, Mikaela started her veterinary career in the Manawatu. Originally working with horses, she has since stopped her equine work to focus on her greatest interest, cats and dogs at Hibiscus Coast Veterinary Hospital and Albany. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, training her dogs and creating her pet portraits @mikaelanipperart.

Dr Nick Munnings
BVSc

Nick came from the UK in 2006 and started working at Silverdale Vets at Animates then moved to the Hibiscus Coast Veterinary Hospital when it opened in March 2014. He was senior Partner of a 6 Vet Mixed Practice in Devon, England that he had set up in 1985. Nick enjoys all the challenges of small animal Veterinary work, keeping up to date with the latest techniques and treatments as well as using alternative treatments when indicated. In his spare time Nick is a keen Club photographer. Nick now works Friday and Saturday only.

Olivia Kang
BVSc

I recently graduated in 2024 and came back to Auckland to be with my family and friends. Passionate about small animal care with a special interest in oncology. I have an 11 year old cat, jasper whom I adopted last year during my last year of university that has absolutely changed my life. When I’m not working , you will most likely find me climbing fake rocks at Boulder Co.

Jenny Lee
BVSc

Originally from South Korea, I moved to New Zealand in 2009 and have since called several cities home, including Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, and Palmerston North. I’m especially excited to be back in Auckland to begin my veterinary career, as it’s my favourite place in New Zealand. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active at the gym, discovering local cafes, and going to beaches whenever I can. Back home, I have a Toy Poodle who always kept life entertaining and reminded me daily why I love what I do. I miss her dearly!

Debra Sample
Dip VN

Debra started working with the Veterinary Hospital Group in 2008 after gaining her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing from Unitec. Debra moved from Vets at Animates Silverdale in March 2014 to become Hibiscus Coast Veterinary Hospital clinic manager. Debra enjoys her bee-keeping in her spare time.

Jacqui Williamson
Dip VN

Jacqui moved to New Zealand from South Africa in 2013 and now lives in Stanmore Bay with her husband, daughter Holly, two dogs Ruby and Rosie, and her ginger cat, Rascal. She has always had a passion for animals of all shapes, sizes, and species. Outside of work, Jacqui loves spending time outdoors, whether that's mountain biking, helping out on the farm, enjoying the beach, or catching up with friends and family. She has been in our group since October 2020.

Brianna Wright
Dip VN

Brianna has grown up on the Hibiscus Coast and has lived there her whole life. She has always had a special place in her heart for animals, which led her to pursue a career as a Vet Nurse. At home, Brianna has four cats: Beau, Romeow, Tuna, and Jellybean. Jellybean was originally a foster cat who quickly became a foster fail and, despite her long list of medical issues, remains as cute as ever. Brianna loves animals of all shapes and sizes and has even been known to keep pet rats in the past.

Gemma Edwards
Dip VN

Gemma graduated from Unitec in 2023 with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. In her spare time, she can be found exploring with her dog Charlie or lending a helping hand at Rodney Animal Rescue, which she loves as it gives her the opportunity to help and spend time with large animals.
